Disclaimer: I'm a late reviewer, I went to this place back in 2008, so I will base on the quality back then. I had a great experience there for dinner. They had this sea bass and my my, it was tasty. The make your own pasta thing was great and the dessert selection was plenty. Can't compare with what you get from Vegas for sure, but it was decent.

Pienza is the Italian buffet restaurant at the new Gaylord National Harbor Hotel. Breakfast is $19.50, lunch is $23.50, and dinner is $32. While these prices may be expensive for a buffet, the food is of high quality (we did the lunch one day). If you like variety and enjoy trying new items, it might be worth the splurge. They had bread, a wide variety of salads, roasted chicken, veggies, pre-made pastas, and pastas made-to-order. They also had a nice dessert station with quite a variety, including cheesecake, biscotti, and red velvet cake. Their tiramisu was very good.

People must keep in mind to review the Restaurant itself, and not the hotel, which it isn't the best hotel by the way. Hey look at that I contradicted myself. I give Pienza 3 stars because of the service. The waitress are very friendly and zoom away your plate very quickly when you are done. The food is ok, I have seen a better selection at Old Country Buffet for less that half the price. Oh yes, this place you have to spend $32 a person for a buffet. I do think that the price is a bit ridiculous, but all the other restaurants around town how a long waiting list. If you don't feel like blowing all of your spending money, than do not go to this place, but if you have cash to throw around than yes, come here if the other places do not have a long waiting list.

They have a limited list of choices for the lunch buffett. The steak was good but their pizza was too greasy. The salmon wasn't fresh and didn't taste good. Its also overpriced.

We went there for breakfast buffet. Coffee was horrible. Buffet food tasted reheated. The only food that was decent was pancakes and sausage ordered off the menu for $13!

This restaurant has great views and is very nice. Service is the tops from the hostess to the servers who all worked well together. Unfortunately, the food is not. For the buffet price for brunch, they should have cleaner, fresher items on the menu. For the dinner buffet, they had minimal meat, fish and poultry items and no seafood at all. All the food I ate was blaaah and very plain. Add some spice; some flavor; doesnt have to be hot just spicy!

The Pienza Italian Market is located in the Gaylord hotel's atrium. We came here because we were starving after a night of debauchery and it was almost 2pm. They had a brunch buffet, AYCE for $32, this includes coffee, tea and sodas. The spread was decent, I stuck with hot food and dessert. Their meat loaf was meh, the meat loaf gravy was outstanding though, the lasagna was a-ok, their fried chicken was a-ok, the mac n cheese was outstanding. They also have salad bar, the caesar was a-ok, the smoked salmon was great! they had all the requisite toppings. They had a whole section where they made omlettes to order, one of my friends got that but it took her a good 15mins, I was almost done with my food by the time she got back. The dessert buffet had ice cream (chocolate and vanilla, with the standard toppings). The blue berry pie was good, the blondie was stale. Overall it was ok. It filled me up, but would I get it again? probably not, the price doesn't justify it for me. But if I had no other choice, yea I would.

This place was over priced with a limited selection of food. There were plenty of empty food trays. Pienza was also under staffed but staff was friendly. For this price, I recommend Rosa Mexicano instead (it's cheaper than $32 a plate and food is much better. :-)

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
